Exemption

I am exempt from New Years Resolution this year. Unlike most people, I don't make futile attempts at things that are never going to happen every year. I establish a goal, plan how to get to that goal, and execute the plan. My goals do not include the usual rot regarding the gym or whatever. My resolutions center on things that improve me as a person and add to my character. I accomplish every one of them mainly because there is a clear goal to attain. Things like weight and health are ongoing, never ending things that take more attention than any human has. These goals are a complete waste of energy and will power. Set yourself a goal, achieve it, then move on to a new goal. Stop running in the perpetual gerbil-wheel.

This past year, I turned my whole life upside down on every level. I quit my secure job that I was happy with and opened my own business. My life is so improved, so changed, that any resolution for this year is moot. I already gave myself hefty goals to work for and they are going to require my full attention. Pass or fail, I will come out of this greatly improved.

So no resolution for me. For you, I recommend doing something positive, but something you can actually attain this time around.
