Just So You know I'm Not Crazy
There are intelligent, professional artists and critics in this world who share similar ideas about modern art, and speaking about contemporary art, as I do:
"I’m capable of thinking that frankly the whole art scene is made up of a bunch of idiots. And I have no desire to get millions of ordinary people to queue up to look at that stuff. Why should they? It’s got nothing much to do with them.”-Matthew Collings
"Artworld people say, What do you mean you can't understand art talk? Would you expect to understand the talk of a nuclear physicist? Don't you see that art is a special subject like that, you have to do some work at it! But in reality people in the artworld mostly just think moronic thoughts like everyone else, and it's nothing like nuclear physics."
“I'm always trying to create work that doesn't make viewers feel they’re being spoken down to, so that they feel open participation."-Jeff Koons
It helps to know, that when you approach me for explanations regarding art, that this is the basic point of view that you will receive.
Further justification can be found in the note that not one of the thirteen art shows I organized, hosted, or had art in during this past year appear in this article: The worst art shows of 2008.
